Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir – Photographer, Knitter

It has been several months since I had the opportunity to interview the talented Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir for This Week in Photography. In the first interview we discussed things like her inspiration, how she became one of the most popular photographers on Flickr, and how she deals with the adoration, and the requisite criticism that comes along with being a self-portrait artist.
In this interview she gives some great tips for beginning, and intermediate photographers with regard to gear, and technique. She also reveals that she’s been diversifying her creative outlets by taking up knitting, and has built a thriving business around this decidedly non-techy hobby turned income stream.
Be sure to check out her Flickr stream, and be prepared to have your socks knocked off… she’s got some powerful work in her portfolio. And if you’d like to get to know her better, head over to her blog… and see what she’s been up to. Make sure to say “hey” in her blog comments.

Interview duration, 30 minutes.

Frederick,
I am so glad that you are featuring such a great photographer. I have followed her work for more than 2 years now. Her style is so unique and made me want to shoot in Iceland.
Thank you for allowing others to get familiarized with her work.

Fantastic interview with photographer Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir that gives real glimpse of her goals, work ethic, in depth details about what it toko to make a particular shot (with anchor), and what role equipment, lenses does and doesn’t have. Oh, and lively personality, too. smiles – Ann

You know that her portfolio isn’t _just_ her self-portraits, right? I’m just saying, because you linked the word “portfolio” to that specific part of the portfolio
