Natalie Dybisz – Photographic Artist

My guest in this post is Natalie Dybisz (“Debish”) aka Miss Aniela. She’s an artist who in many ways defies categorization – though many have tried. She has accomplished an amazing amount in her career… especially since she just started a few years ago, including landing Microsoft as a client, and having her work appear on the cover of American Photo magazine.
Her work is amongst the most viewed on Flickr and each photo sparks a full-on and sometimes heated discussion in the comments. Many have criticized Natalie for using her gender or her looks as a means to success, however in the end, we are all artists… and can only be judged by the work we produce. And in this regard, regardless of the “hows” or “whys” behind her work, it is exemplary.
Check out her blog, catch her on Facebook. And if you happen to be London Oct 16th thru January 5th, be sure to check out her first London exhibition!
Listen to the full audio interview, after the break.

thanks for this interview. Miss Aniela is someone i used to follow regularly before i was cast out of flickr by some trouble-makers and obnoxious flickr staff. (i moderated my work, didn’t break rules, but they own the place and can do whatever they want… yet if i can find more porn on flickr, unblocked, than anywhere else on the internet, i don’t see why people can’t see MY stuff on flickr… it’s personal preference of Heather Champ on flickr and she’s NOT a good sport NOR an artist NOR open minded).
anyway… good stuff and nice to hear Natalie’s voice and her views on things. her approach to photography, starting digital and screen resolution, is curious to me because it’s the opposite of how i started (analog, chemicals… hate that now… but i do all my work with the intention of being able to print it and even name project files “unprintable” if i make something incidentally interesting but it’s too cropped and low res).
thanks!
