Chris Orwig – Photographer, Author, Educator

Chris Orwig is a creative who has dedicated his professional career both to making fantastic images, and to teaching others the art of photography. In many ways Chris is living the dream of many aspiring photographers. He’s renown in his field, he teaches at the world-famous Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara California, he’s a published author, and he speaks and teaches workshops.

In this interview Chris and I talk about how he got started in photography, what inspires him, as well as how to stay creative in your own work. Chris’ latest book Visual Poetry: A Creative Guide for Making Engaging Digital Photographs was recently released and having read it, it’s one of his best yet.

[...] 2. Visual Poetry: A Creative Guide for Making Engaging Digital Photographs A riveting book about how to “simplify” your photography. Chris teaches the reader how to participate in the story they’re photographing, rather than just capturing it. For lots of shooters, having too much gear just gets in the way. Chris talks about having a vision, and finding inspiration… then how to use the tools you have to effectively capture an image you’re proud to show off. Check out the audio interview I did with Chris here. Hi Frederick. I just listened to this interview of yours with Chris Orwig -and the one with David Du Chemin. Loved them. Really nice podcasts.
I got curious about the one photographer on flickr you mentioned… Nathalie… something… I tried to search for her but I guess I’m not managing to spell her name right. Also took a look at your list of contacts at Flickr but, eh… you have quit a list in there… : )… I’m still not finding her.
I would love to see her work. Would it be possible for you to share her page adress?
